nutty bacon cheese ball

Paula Deen made this gourmet cheese ball on Oprah's favorite things post-show. It looked so delicious, I had to try it! It was easy to make, and was definitely the hit of the party...

You will need:
8 oz package softened cream cheese
1/2 cup milk
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar
1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
1/4 cup finely minced green onions (white part only)
3/4 cup copped pecans (any nut will work)
10 slices of bacon; cooked & crumbled
1/4 cup minced parsley
1 tablespoon poppy seeds

In a medium bowl:
Mix softened cream cheese with a mixer for 1 minute (speed 2). Gradually add milk while mixing and scraping the bowl. Add cheeses, onions, half the bacon and half the pecans. Turn to speed 4 and beat another minute until well blended. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer mixture to a large piece of plastic wrap. Form into a ball and wrap tightly. Refrigerate or freeze at least 2 hours.

Combine the remaining bacon and pecans on a pie plate with the parsley and poppy seeds. Remove the plastic wrap, and roll the cheese ball lightly in the mixture until evenly coated. Wrap back in plastic and refrigerate until ready to use. Serves 20.

*Easy Tip*
Instead of cooking, draining, and crumbling my bacon, I bought a package of pre-cooked and already crumbled Hormel bacon. It saved me a lot of time, and tasted just as good!
