Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

To watch Amy Adams is to love her. She has a warm, effervescent charm that lights up the screen whenever she performs (if you doubt me, look no further than the delightful 2007 film Enchanted). In her most recent role, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, we see her at her most bubbly, her most perky and she plays the part to perfection.

The story follows an out-of-work, judgmental, and somewhat prudish governess named Miss Pettigrew (the hilarious Frances McDormand - Almost Famous) who mistakenly takes a job working for aspiring actress Delysia Lafosse (Adams). Little does Miss Pettigrew realize that she has nothing in common with the flighty Delysia, except that she has a knack for getting her out of trouble - and the two instantly become best friends.

Set during the brink of World War II in fashionable London, stuffy vicar's daughter Miss Pettigrew has one day to turn Delysia's life around: go shopping for clothes and some saucy ladies unmentionables, get her the starring role in the latest London stage production, help Delysia pick between three eligible bachelors, teach her the meaning of true love, and even find a little time for romance and a makeover of her own. With a great supporting cast including British favorite Ciaran Hinds (
The Phantom of the Opera) and handsome newcomer Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies), Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day is my new favorite chick flick. I am sure you will be as pleasantly surprised by this delicious film as I was. Happy viewing!

I loved watching this with you. I had been wanting to see that for so long. I still wish we had the same hair and styles these days as then. So feminine. I want the sea shell bathtub!
I seriously tried to get Amy Adams hair color back on 4th of July weekend. But pregnancy hormones would not allow it. So when I see Kelly in October I am going to try it again!

What a dilemma! 3 eligible young men? So tragic. Wish I had that problem! ;) Wish I had her wardrobe, too. HOT!!
