Biography Channel

Our satellite company has been previewing the Biography Channel during the month of April, and this cupcake is in movie magic heaven! I have taped and watched almost every single episode of Biography, as well as Biography Classic and many of their other featured programs. I love watching the portraits of old celebrities from the early years of the silver-screen. It is fascinating to get a glimpse into their private lives, as well as their struggles and successes during the golden age of cinema. In those days, most celebrities began their careers as "contract players" for the big movie corporations such as MGM, Warner Brothers and 20th Century Fox, when actors were considered studio "property".

I think my favorite biographies so far have been of Donna Reed, Carole Lombard and Shirley Temple (to name a few). All were extraordinary women who achieved success in their private as well as public lives. For example, did you know that Donna Reed was on the debate team in high school, and later became a significant player in the movement for women's rights? I love it! For those of you who are interested, the Biography Channel will continue it's preview on Dish Network until April 30th, 2008. In the meantime, happy viewing!
