HP poll results

It's official: You love Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban! It garnered 66% of votes, while Order of the Phoenix came in second, with 22%, and Goblet of Fire 11%. The Christopher Columbus directed films Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets received no votes. Could it be the almost slavish adherence to J.K. Rowling's books as the reason for no votes, or simply that the films seem to be more exciting with each new director?

As for preferences, I love Azkaban (the movie), yet my favorite book (thus far) remains Order of the Phoenix. Speaking of books, what is your favorite Harry Potter novel? Will you be picking up a copy of Deathly Hallows this weekend?

As for movies, I voted for Order of the Phoenix . . . I'm still so impressed with the screenplay. While it did make changes to the book, they were minor and it still seemed to be the most cohesive of the movies.

I think the Columbus movies were very useful in helping create the world--devoting so much time to Diagon Alley, etc. made them come alive for me, but now I don't need to see them because I already have.

Of course, I think the other movies are better: the screenplays have steadily improved, the young actors have more chops now so their performances are more nuanced, and the directors are no longer afraid to put their stamp on the movies.

(Btw, total change of subject: I'm really looking forward to movie 6 because Alan Rickman should have a really big role. :D)

As for favorite books . . . for the longest time, my favorite was Prisoner of Azkaban. I'm going to have to reread them all to make a better judgment call (and since I can never remember much from time to time, it's always like reading them for the first time).

I will agree that my favorite movie so far was Order. Which is interesting because I didn't particularly like Order the first time I read it. I thought Harry was too.... obnoxious (and not like the Harry we've all known and loved).

Having reread Order I enjoyed it more, but it's still not my favorite book.

For favorite book, my vote used to be Goblet, with Azkaban a close second. However, I really enjoyed Half-Blood Prince. So I'd say the 3 of those books are all really highly ranked. Of course.. I like the other books as well, and have read and reread them all several times.

SO how can I really pick a favorite?

I really like Half Blood Prince...you learn a lot about Voldemort and his past. I also like Order of the Phoenix. It's a tough one. I am way excited for the last book to be coming out!! Whoo hoo!n Basically it will be available to purchase in less then 24 hours, however, I will not be going out to pick up a copy, because my husband pre-ordered it for me and it will be delivered to my house! Yay! I can't wait! My poor husband won't see me much come saturday afternoon/evening...he will temporarily be a single parent! :)
